Dan received his Bachelor's of Science in Economics from Radford University in 1996. While at Radford Dan achieved the rising
senior award in Economics, by being rated number one in the department of economics and thereafter was inducted by Beta Gamma
Sigma National Honor Society for being in the top 10% of the business department.
Dan then attended the University of Dayton, School of Law, receiving his law degree in 2001. Dan graduated with honors, being
ranked 14th of 140 peers. During law school Dan clerked for several local firms in the areas of personal injury, landlord/tenant,
criminal, and civil litigation. While still in law school Dan obtained his intern's certificate thereby allowing him to litigate cases for
clients with limited supervision.
Born on Long Island, New York, Dan moved to Virginia with his parents, Frederick G. and Maryann B. Getty, who searched for
space to enjoy their love for foxhunting, in 1986. Dan lived and attended high school and college in Virginia until moving to Dayton,
Ohio to pursue his law degree. While in law school Dan met Jennifer Cumbo (n.k.a. Jennifer Getty). Obviously this was a perfect
match as Dan and Jen have been married since 2002 and reside near their office in Centerville. Because Jen grew up in Centerville,
the two have made it their permanent residence.
Although Dan grew up in suburban Long Island, a good portion of his life was spent on a farm located in an area of Virginia known
as the Shenandoah Valley. Many days were spent bailing hay, building fence, working with cattle, and taking care of the many
horses and hounds. For work through high school and college, Dan not only worked on his family's farm, but also worked as a
carpenter, eventually owning and operating a small construction business in the later years of college. Dan's love and passion for
the law first developed in high school when his brother, Frederick J. Getty, Esq., began pursuing his career in law. By the time Dan
graduated college in 1996, Fred had opened his own law practice in Northern Virginia, Getty & Associates L.P.A., and Dan worked
as a legal assistant there until beginning law school.
Dan's hobbies include skiing, hunting, boating, and golfing. Dan has a passion for the ocean and outdoors and can never spend
enough time in or around either.
